Forestry

The Forestry Division is a unit of the Street Department. The Forestry Division consist of monthly curbside brush pickup, spring and fall curbside leaf collection, curbside Christmas tree collection/recycling, street tree trimming and removal, stump removal, Arbor Day Celebrations and the fall tree planting program. This division is funded out General Fund of the Village.  Please read the information below regarding these programs.

Arbor Day- National Arbor Day is the last Friday in April. The Village celebrates this holiday near this date. The village typically honors people of local historical, educational or civic significance by the planting of a tree in one of the village parks.

Leaf Pick- Leaves are picked up curbside in the fall of the year. Leaves are to be raked to the curb in rows, not piles. Please do not rake the leaves into the street as this adds to street flooding.

Christmas Tree Recycling- Christmas trees are recycled curbside beginning after Christmas and continuing into January.

Fall Tree Planting- Residents are encouraged to call the village to participate in this program. This program is implemented by the Oak Harbor Tree Commission and involves planting trees along the boulevard in front of a resident’s home. Contact a tree commission member for types of trees available and rules for plantings.

Hazardous Trees - If you have a hazardous tree or limb in a street tree, contact the Village for the limb or tree to be removed. Trees are NOT removed just because they are a nuisance or are merely undesirable by the homeowner. This does not cover trees on private property.
